Yes, the Cormack Innovation Awards are on again and to celebrate our 7th year we have launched the Awards website.

The Cormack Innovation Award is regarded as one of the most practical industrial design awards in Australia. The competition criteria and judging is done by senior industry representatives working in FMCG, beverage, chemical cleaning and pharmaceutical companies, the same people that one day will be commissioning designs from these students in the commercial world.

The Awards are open to 3rd year Industrial Design Students currently studying in Australia.

As well as cash prizes, Cormack Packaging offers paid, project based work experience to the winning student, and the possibility of commercialisation of any design with industry interest. Finalists receive widespread publicity in local papers, industry publications and websites.

The awards culminate in the Presentation Night which is held in Sydney in October. The top 20 designs will be displayed and these students will have the opportunity to meet and discuss their designs with senior industry members, government representatives, past winners and other students.

Cormack Packaging has been announced as a Finalist in the Western Sydney Industry Awards for 2008.

This year Cormack Packaging is competing in the Global Excellence - Most Outstanding Large Business category and is up against some strong competition.

The Award was presented to Cormack's Sales and Marketing Manager, Howard Glinn by Minister for Western Sydney Barbara Perry MP. (pictured below)

The Awards now in their 10th year, are one of Australia's most prestigious awards events showcasing the innovation and diversity of Western Sydney business, especially in the manufacturing industry. Western Sydney is the 2nd largest exporting region in Australia.

The Western Sydney Industry Awards are an initiative of the NSW Government's Office of the Minister for Western Sydney, in partnership with the Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board and the NSW Department of State and Regional Development.

Last year Cormack Packaging won the Excellence in Innovation award in the innovative product or service category for its new Swing Cap.

This year's winners will be announced at the Awards Gala presentation on May 23 at Sydney Olympic Park.
